B&L Automotive Repairs is a valued member of the TechniCraft Automotive Group family, and a family-owned and operated auto body shop since 1978. Started by Bernie Schatz and Lou Stein way back in 1978, B&L Automotive Repairs has always been a community focused collision center, and nowadays we are proud to call it a part of our team.

The original body shop found its home at 2853 West Montrose Avenue in Chicago, and it boasted 6,250 square feet of top-notch equipment – although it was bursting at the seams with ambition to grow and love for the community.

When Peter Rizzo joined the shop in 1981, it outgrew its original space and moved to 3838 North Kedzie Avenue to spread across the vast 12,500 square feet of pure potential. Now with 16 employees on staff, all eager to make the community a safer place, their primary focus was collision repair, rental, used car, and fleet work.

Although Berine passed away, Lou’s and his original values remained deeply rooted into the B&L brand. With Pete Rizzo at the helm of the body shop since 1988, the brand retained its core purpose and expanded to include insurance collaboration and customer pay.

Another valued team member, Gino Jacobazzi, joined the B&L ranks in 1987, staying devoted to the business for over 30 years until his retirement in 2023. Then in 2019, Peter Rizzo decided to retire and trusted the business to TechniCraft Automotive Group, and to this very day, so many years in the making, the body shop remains a family owned and operated business retaining its founding community values.

We strive to uphold the B&L name and all that it stands for in our community, which is why we emphasize quality customer service and leading collision repair services. With the B&L staff and technicians on deck, there is no denying that our customers are in safe hands.
